Oral paste to control worm infections.

Target species

Horses (from the age of 8 weeks).

Active substance

Pyrantelembonate 439 mg/g

(corresponding to 152.2 mg/g pyrantel)

Indication

Worm infection with adult stages of roundworms, especially ascarids (Parascaris equorum), small strongylids (Cyastomum spp.., Triodontophorus spp.) and large strongylids (Strongylus edentatus, S. equinus, S. vulgaris), oxyurides (Oxyuris equi) and tapeworms (Anoplocephala perfoliata). The efficacy against Anoplocephala perfoliata is variable.

Can be used during gestation and lactation.

Contraindications

Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or any of the excipients.

Dosage

The veterinary medicine is intended for single oral administration to horses.

  1. For treatment of ascarids, small and large strongylids and oxyurids, the recommended dosage is 19 mg of pyrantelembonate per kg of body weight. One injector is intended to treat 600 kg of body weight (see scale on injector) and each injector is divided into marked parts. The amount of one part is sufficient to treat 50 kg of body weight.
  2. For the treatment of tapeworms, the recommended dosage is 38 mg pyrantelembonate per kg body weight. One injector is intended to treat 350 kg of body weight (see scale on the injector) and each injector is divided into marked parts. The amount of two parts is sufficient to treat 50 kg of body weight.

For proper dosing, the weight should be determined as accurately as possible; the accuracy of the dosing device should be checked.

The calculated and administered amount of paste can be set and secured with the adjustment screw on the rod of the injector. Then remove the protective cap from the injector, open the horse's mouth and spray the gel as far as possible on the back of the tongue and allow the animal to swallow. Swallowing can be stimulated by placing a hand under the chin and lifting the head.
