Indication
Worm infections in horses caused by Strongylus vulgaris, Str. edentatus and Str. equinus, Cyathostomum spp., Triodontophorus spp., Oxyuris equi, Parascaris equorum, Probstmayria vivipara and the tapeworm Anaplocephala perfoliata.
Contraindications
None known.
Dosage and route of administration
Route of administration:
Set adjusting screw to desired amount, open horse's mouth and squirt contents as far as possible on back of tongue. To encourage swallowing, the hand can be placed under the chin and the head lifted. If only part of the contents of the syringe has been used, replace the protective cap on the tube.
The drug is recommended for direct oral administration in horses, ponies and foals older than 4 weeks. It is not necessary to fast before administering the drug.
To combat:
- gastrointestinal worm infections: once, 19 mg pyrantel pamoate per kg body weight (= 1 syringe per 600 kg body weight).
- Tapeworm infections: once 38 mg pyrantel pamoate per kg body weight(= 2 syringes per 600 kg body weight).
On the piston rod are graduated marks for 150 kg, 300 kg and 450 kg so that horses, lighter than 600 kg, foals and ponies can be easily dosed.
Each grade is equivalent to 6.5 grams of paste or 2.85 grams of pyrantel pamoate.
